Ruah Ranch A new approach to teaching the adult rider!

Connie Erickson

After completing a major in Anthropology at the University of Oregon, Connie traveled south and east to Linnville, TN to attend Huntlea Horse Center where she earned both Asistant Instructor and Instructor certificates under Mrs. Joan Hunt F.B.H.S. According to Connie, though, her real training didn't start until she became a student of Karl Mikolka, a retired Oberbereiter (Chief Rider) originally from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria. She studied extensively with Karl through regular clinics she hosted at her farm from 1989 until 2002 and also spent time at Tempel Farms in Wadsworth, IL where Karl was located.

Our goal is to prepare you to achieve your vision for your riding and relationship with your horse as well as to become a safe, competent and confident rider. Adult learners are different from children and one size does not fit all. Each rider comes to the sport with different ways of knowing and learning and it is the instructor’s responsibility to adapt to the student’s ways of learning. We help you to explore and learn about your personal learning styles and strengths then work with you to utilize this information to get the most out of every lesson.
